About Me

My Story Begins

A Journey Rooted in Curiosity & Connection

My name is Prasobha Prabhakaran, and my journey as an educator began long before I entered a classroom. It started with the joy of watching children wonder—asking questions, discovering new ideas, and seeing the world through bright, curious eyes.

From those early moments, I knew my purpose:

to protect that curiosity and help it grow.

Becoming an IB Educator

Where My Philosophy Found Its Home

My early teaching years shaped me, but discovering the IB Primary Years Programme transformed me.

The PYP mirrored everything I believed in:

  • Learning driven by inquiry

  • Classrooms filled with voice, choice, and ownership

  • Teaching rooted in meaning, not memorization

  • Reflection as a habit, not an afterthought

In the PYP, I found the educational home I was looking for—and the platform through which I could inspire meaningful learning.

My Professional Pathway

Growing Through Every Experience

Every school I worked with became a chapter in my story.

Oakridge International School (2007–2023)

Where I grew from a facilitator to Grade Level Coordinator—leading evaluation cycles, mentoring teachers, creating training programs, and embracing the depth of PYP pedagogy.

Sharanya Narayani International School (2023–2024)

Where I deepened my understanding of assessment, pastoral care, and whole-school learning culture.

New York Academy (2024–Present)

Where I contribute as an Associate PYP Coordinator, designing curriculum maps, POI matrices, and nurturing collaborative learning environments.

Each milestone shaped the educator—and leader—I am today.

What I Believe

My Educational Values

At the heart of my practice lies one simple belief:
Children learn best when they feel seen, heard, capable, and inspired.

I believe in:

  • Classrooms where learning is joyful, meaningful, and authentic

  • Teachers who grow through reflection and collaboration

  • Schools that cultivate global-mindedness and compassion

  • Learning communities built on trust and curiosity

My Leadership Story

Leading with Heart, Purpose & Presence

As a PYP leader, I see myself as:

  • A mentor who guides with empathy

  • A collaborator who builds community

  • A designer who aligns curriculum with vision

  • A reflective practitioner always growing

  • A learner who stays open and curious

Leadership, to me, is not about directing—it is about uplifting.
It is about helping teachers find their strengths, supporting them through challenges, and celebrating every step forward.

Beyond the Classroom

Who I Am Outside My Role

When I’m not in classrooms or meetings, I am someone who finds joy in:

  • meaningful conversations

  • discovering new ideas

  • connecting with diverse perspectives

  • observing how children make sense of their world

Every experience enriches my understanding of people—and deepens my belief in lifelong learning.
